What is it?
Passive income geek started out as a youtube channel focused on building passive income websites. It launched its website just a few months ago in November 2020.
It focuses on building niche websites which are primarily monetized via display ads and affiliate marketing. And also shows you how you can sell those websites for large amounts.
Passive income geek was created by Morten Storgaard, who was a student of Income School, and uses a lot from their approach to building niche sites with focuses on content and “underserved” topic research. The sites focus on one niche, answer important questions about that niche, and recommend useful products in that niche. Passive income geek focuses on using display ads as the monetization approach.
How does it work?
You work systematically through each module that are a combination of text, video, and tools.
There are 68 videos totaling 4.5 hours. When you sign up for the course, you are greeted with an introductory video that gives you all the basic info and what is expected.
The course is divided into 9 modules which are Niche Selection, topic research, finding a domain name, setting up your website, writing awesome content, SEO tips, monetization, social media, and outsourcing content. All very basic and straight forward and easy to follow. If you are thinking to yourself “This sounds great except I don’t want to have to be writing and creating content all the time”, don’t worry because Outsourcing Content will be a module that will show you how you can have virtual assistants to write all of your content for very cheap.
Pros and Cons
Passive Income geeks approach to selling is very casual and easy going, there is no hard sell or pressure to buy. The course is clean and has an easy design. It also has a pretty big community you can get help from, even though it’s a fairly new course.
Not necessarily for extreme beginners, you need some knowledge with wordpress or be willing to research that on your own. The term “passive” does not apply to this course until after you have done quite a bit of work building content and websites.
How much does it cost?
$299 for the first year and $99 for an annual membership after that.
You’ll also have to spend money on a domain (you can get them for about $10 on namecheap) and hosting such as wordpress. Also, if you decide to outsource work, you’ll have to pay for that as well, but a lot of the time you can find people to write articles for you for a few dollars.
You can also cancel your subscription anytime, and they have a 30 day money back guarantee.
Final Thoughts
Passive Income Geek seems to have a lot of good information that is easy to follow, and takes a unique approach on affiliate marketing and ads. It’s too new to really be able to say if it is working for a lot of people as a source of passive income. But for the low ish price of $299, it might be worth it to try it out and get ahead of the rush. If there is one.
However, Here is MY reccommendation for how to truly get free. This is what I am currently doing to make passive income. It’s my favorite way. It’s passive, and it works.
